Delegate King has fought to lower the cost of living, including eliminating the grocery tax, fighting price gouging, lowering prescription costs, capping highway tolls and funding the affordable housing trust fund. She has also secured business investments to bring hundreds of jobs to Virginia. Delegate King continues to work to ensure that Prince William and Stafford Counties are great places to live, work and raise a family.
She has led the House of Delegate’s efforts to protect reproductive freedom and access to abortion in Virginia. As women around the country have been denied healthcare, even dying during miscarriages, Virginia remains the only state in the South without a dangerous abortion ban. Delegate King will continue to fight to ensure women and their doctors make their healthcare decisions, not politicians.
Delegate King has led efforts in Virginia, and across the South, to address maternal mortality rates. These efforts include Virginia’s first “Momnibus” which will focus on redesigning health systems to save more moms and babies.
As the mother of three public school students, she has seen firsthand the struggles teachers are facing to help our students recover from pandemic learning loss. That’s why Delegate King has prioritized reforming special education, funding literacy programs and increasing teacher pay.
As vice-chair of the public safety committee, Delegate King has been on the frontline of efforts to ban “ghost” guns, invest in violence intervention programs and ensure law enforcement is able to safely and fairly engage with our community.
She continues to fight for policies that protect our students from school shootings and ensure adequate law enforcement funding and training.
As a member of the finance committee, Delegate King has fought to lower taxes, create incentives for small businesses and address the rising costs. As a former small business owner, she knows first hand, the struggles of starting and maintaining a business. That’s why she continues to work to modernize Virginia’s small business processes and make it easier for small businesses to secure government contracts.
Delegate King has worked with local officials, Virginia Department of Transportation and Virginia Rail Express to address the need for expanded transportation options. To fight the increasing costs of the 95 expressways, she introduced legislation to cap the fees for Prince William and Stafford residents. She will continue to fight for investments in public transit, Route 1 improvements and capping toll costs.
The 23rd District is the center of a pediatric specialty care desert. Many families are forced to travel for hours to seek care for pediatric cancers, sickle cell anemia and other childhood ailments.
Delegate King has worked with local hospitals and advocates to increase Virginia’s investment and support for chronic illnesses. Her ultimate goal is a comprehensive pediatric hospital in the 23rd District.
